On Sunday in San Quintin, 150 vehicles and many more people participated in a "peace march" which was heavily guarded by police escort and which has been accused of being created and backed by the agricultural businesses of San Quintin in an attempt to demonize the Jornaleros and turn public opinion against them. So, even here there is a caste system much like India (which was BTW outlawed but still exists).
Juan Carlos Dominguez notes that there will another meetup this week on Thursday (06/04) with the Jornaleros and officials from the Federal Government to discuss the wage increase demands. However, leaders of the Alliance have warned there will be more instances of civil resistance actions should their demands not be met.

Mega Marcha en San Quintin contra el movimiento jornalero
Padre Solalinde |
Last month, La Jornada reported that Padre Solalinde would be present at these negotiations as an observer, although some press releases locally have been reporting that he "could" make an appearance in San Quintin.

Confirman asistencia de Solalinde San Quintin el 4 de Junio
I feel that Padre Solalinde aside from being a humanitarian and political activist is a Holy Man and I wish we could go down there on Thursday and have him bless my rosary (especially since we missed him at Pomona College last February) but that seems kind of selfish in light of the huge tasks before him which he has taken on. So, we'll watch the news and hope for the best.

Regarding the executions and arrests, they continue with what looks like the most heavy blows (as far as arrests) taken by the CAF. My neighbor said he is not sure about the other arrests, he feels those people will just eventually be released. I'll be back in a few days to update that situation.
I almost forgot - there was an inspection at the same point the Military had set up during the earlier years of the drug war on Avenida Internacional going towards Playas with authorities checking vehicles for dope and weapons - traffic was backed up. It was not there this late afternoon.

Finally lest I completely forget, Presidente Pena Nieto was in Ensenada today, there were demonstrations against him, but as you can see, heavy security:
