I wasn't exactly calm this morning after the news about the reduction of the sentence of the Trump scumbag and fellow gangster, Roger Stone:
~ From Politico: 02/11/20
"The reckoning following President Donald Trump’s impeachment acquittal came into sharper focus on Tuesday.
Less than a week after the Senate rejected two articles of impeachment against Trump, the president bashed federal prosecutors for recommending a stiff sentence for Roger Stone, attacked the judge overseeing high-profile cases involving his ex-advisers, and suggested that the military could discipline Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a star impeachment witness..."
That news was preceded by William our neighbor next door who is a Bernie supporter telling Mike that essentially Bernie would be buried by the DNC a few more primaries down the road, a CNN front page interview with James Carville (Bill Clinton's campaign manager) warning the Democratic Party is losing it's collective mind promoting "radical" leftists (of course we are to assume he meant Bernie) and in so doing is doomed to failure in 2020 and the two following reports:

UPDATE/EDIT 02/13/2020: Okay, finally some stats. I think it is too early to tell if the drug war is winding down in our region.. You may want to compare the current numbers to last years... noticing a drop in the executions from the other Municipalities. If you go to Zeta , click the Noticias del Dia and what I've also noticed seems to be a higher rate of drug seizures up and down the coast. I need to mention that since the statement of Padre Solalinde last year, the National Guard itself has been involved in several instances of corruption with drugs throughout their ranks and across the country, and of course their role has pivoted to the focus of holding back the Migrantes.

Just returned from San Diego for the Paris VCA Dermatology Clinic appointment, it's a long story & will share later because you might be interested if your fur one has skin problems - but really worth the trip.

Update/edit - 09/25: Finally the stats...
Turning away from the Impeachment Inquiry which is holding everyone's attention as the minutes tick by, a quick look at the local drug war stats for the month of September. What we have noticed this month is that there were periods of inactivity as far as the killings have gone. Then suddenly multiple homicides, then a pause, then more multiple homicides. Earlier this month there was a rash of dismembered bodies which has subsided, but still there are bodies. - On 09/16 @ 10:16 am, Zeta reported at that point since the beginning of the month, Tijuana registered 95 executions, which brought the YTD total in TIJ to 1,629 people killed. This particular grouping included two burned bodies: ~ From Zeta:
Matan a Tres Mujeres y Siete Hombres En Las Ultimas Horas Por, Uriel Saucedo - On 09/25 @ 11:21 am, Zeta reported eight more dead, bringing the monthly total in Tijuana up to 155 dead. An official YTD figure for TIJ was not given, but given the figures from the Uriel Saucedo report, Tijuana looks to be standing at a YTD total of 1,689 people killed.
"African caravan could leave Chiapas towards Baja California
A group of African migrants who are detained at the Siglo XXI immigration station in Tapachula, Chiapas, could leave there in the next few days and head towards Baja California, with the intention of being able to cross into the United States.
This was announced this morning Manuel Marín Salazar, head of the National Institute of Migration (INM) in the State, after the security meeting held daily by state and federal authorities in the facilities of the Federal Police. The official shared that there is information that this African delegation is organizing so that in case they are not given an exit pass in that southern station of migration, they will go by caravan to this state, either to Tijuana or Mexicali. He explained that currently the Federal Government is not delivering the so-called safe passages so that migrants can travel for 20 days through the Mexican territory, as previously; This determination was taken as a containment measure so that foreigners do not arrive precisely at the northern border, a situation in which Africans have been protesting for a few weeks. He said that at the moment these people are “contained” on the southern border, but it may be that at some point they leave for this region. Jaime Bonilla Valdez, elected governor of the state, shared that this situation worries him because they are still working with the shelters, however, he emphasized that the issue will be followed up so that in case migrants arrive, they will see how they are will receive and attend, in addition to give their respective documentation."

Democracy Now ! had covered this story earlier this month with video and interviews:
"This comes as tens of thousands of asylum seekers are stuck in border cities on the Mexican side, waiting to be processed for initial asylum proceedings in the United States. At the Tijuana-San Diego border alone, there are more than 10,000 migrants on the waiting list to turn themselves in to U.S. immigration officials. The binational legal aid group Al Otro Lado tweeted, “We r the only OTG org here providing legal aid. This is a death sentence for most our clients. Our hearts are broken + we’re exhausted.”
Ten days later we have this report, with no mention of the hopelessness of the situation:
"More than 10 thousand migrants have been returned to BC to await asylum protocol
Manuel Marín Salazar, in charge of the delegation of the National Institute of Migration (INM) in Baja California, shared this morning that since January to date more than 10,000 migrants have been returned to the state, to wait here for their asylum processes requested to States United, as part of the bilateral agreements and the Migrant Protection Protocol (PPE).
During his participation with Grupo 21 Tijuana, the federal official explained that 74 percent of migrants have entered through this border and 36% through Mexicali; An average of 150 returned daily, most of these are families with young children, all of Central American origin. He stressed that this amount does not mean that everyone is or is still in the state, since some have chosen to return to their countries of origin or have gone to other states.
Marín Salazar added that of these people, a total of two thousand 317 have requested and received their work certificates, to be able to work in the country while they are waiting for their next appointments with the immigration court of the neighboring country.
Regarding the asylum processes, he said that there are about 25 people who know they are already in their second, third or fourth appointment for the approval of the applications, however, they do not keep an accounting of how many are those who already have it accomplished. On the issue of deported Mexicans, the official said that there are approximately 150 people who receive daily, 60% for Tijuana and 40% for Mexicali.
By the way, he stressed that to date they have reduced up to 50% in the number of expatriates, "so they have nothing to do with the famous raids that have been mentioned," he said.
Finally, he said that although the INM is part of the security and development coordination of the new migrant shelter, it still does not know where the federal shelter will be besieged, nor when it will start operations."

It's all bad news for the most part, but this one is beyond cruel :
U.S. Denies Protected Status to Bahamians as 2,500 Listed as Missing
"In the Bahamas, authorities have published a list of 2,500 people who went missing after Hurricane Dorian ravaged the island nation in early September as a Category 5 storm. The official death toll stands at 50, but Prime Minister Hubert Minnis warned Wednesday the number is likely to soar. Compounding the Bahamas’ misery is a massive oil spill that’s begun to spread into the ocean off the southern coast of Grand Bahama island after Hurricane Dorian blew the lids off six giant crude oil tanks.
This comes as multiple news outlets reported the Trump administration has decided not to grant temporary protected status to Bahamians, which would allow them to work and live in the U.S. until it’s safe for them to return home. In response, the National Immigration Law Center tweeted, “For the Trump admin to deny TPS to those seeking shelter is yet another example of their sheer cruelty.”
On Wednesday, the Miami Herald reported a 12-year-old Bahamian girl whose home was destroyed by the hurricane was separated from her family by U.S. authorities after arriving in South Florida. The girl, Kaytora Paul, had arrived with her godmother at an airport in West Palm Beach and was taken into the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services and moved to a facility for unaccompanied immigrant children in Miami-Dade County."
Too bad they can't impeach him for that one alone.

***** Plus Jeffrey St. Clair always has the most cool music. Who in the world do you think this one is about ?
I don't seem to get around here much anymore, but I have some good excuses. Last week we had to take Paris up to Ramona to Dr. Beth's because she needed her "Revolution" flea meds renewed and there isn't anyone down here that can do that. I was also literally glued to watching and listening to the Kavanaugh Hearings which were shameful. Then there was the op-ed piece to the New York Times which freaked everyone out, but which I think is pure bullshit - we'll come back to that one later. Last night we started watching Active Measures which I was afraid to watch thinking it was financed by the Clinton Foundation....but so far it is worth the watch, particularly if you were not aware of what a gangster Trump is.
**********
Update on Active Measures, my review: We finished watching this film-doc last night. Although everything it depicts about the relationships of Donald Trump, his family & campaign staff and the Russians/Putin is probably true, it goes further to present Hillary, the DNC & Podesta as the only victims of the 2016 campaign and innocent as lambs. There is no mention of how Hillary, the DNC & Podesta rigged and stole the Primaries against Bernie, the lies they spread about Bernie (including violence by Bernie's delegates), how Bernie's delegates were not allowed to speak or protest during the DNC convention, and the super delegates who were already bought off by Hillary prior to the actual primaries to name a few incidents. Trump, Putin and Hillary are one in the same, they are criminals and gangsters. I would only recommend this doc-film if you are interested in the connections between Trump and his family and Trump's campaign team to organized crime in Russia. Further, there is no mention of the interference of the United States in elections throughout the world which have established dozens of tyrants and dictators.
**********
One thing I have noticed about the gringos both here and in the States: they all agree that Mexico is corrupt beyond repair. Any more and particularly now this sentiment in my opinion is inappropriate and unreasonable. What we witnessed from the Kavanaugh Hearings was complete and total corruption of the United State's highest court of the land - the Supreme Court. It does not get worse than that although of course, corruption rips through the US Government backwards, frontwards and sideways. So the message is '...before you accuse me, take a look at yourself." The consensus is that Brett Kavanaugh will be confirmed which means dark times ahead for the United States. I guess we could all do a quickie novena to St. Jude the Patron Saint of hopeless causes, maybe that might work.
Brett Kavanaugh, the all American - Joe- Good- Guy-Just a Swell Lad Who Coaches-Girls Basketball and a Great Dad- a True American as portrayed by the GOP is a shithead. He has been endorsed by Breitbart, the NRA, MOM & the Family Research Council ( who vehemently oppose LGBT rights), he is opposed to reproductive rights, affordable health care, immigrants rights, workers rights, anti-environment, anti-regulations, favors the corporates, is pro racial profiling, pro complete executive power and is a liar. It was bad enough that the Republicans provided absolute complete non disclosure of his records (on purpose) but he has the polished ability to avoid answering questions like a true mafiosa. By the weekend I was sick to my stomach.
So here are some links - you have to read Jeffrey St. Clair - and I am behind on my subscription to Counterpunch so this link was provided by Sonya over on the Intercept: (one reason I am behind is because we opted to buy Paris a brand new Big Barker Bed with cover except now she wants another one for upstairs. Paris and Bob the Daca Cat are so spoiled I cannot believe it. Bob now only eats chicken so every other day I'm roasting chickens. ( BTW, if you're thinking of buying one of these, just go directly to the company to order.)
Favorite Brett Kavanaugh Links As Of Today:
From Counterpunch: Covers the op-ed piece & Kavanaugh & Everything Else ! Roaming Charges: "I Am Not Spartacus!" By, Jeffrey St. Clair - 09/07/18 **********
Briefly and we'll see if this interpretation comes up somewhere, but I think the op-ed piece was a semi-advanced Machiavellian Intelligence Distraction (Kavanaugh Hearings and upcoming mid-terms& other Trump Disasters) which was not altogether completely sophisticated, giving Trump more attention - so far only a few agree with me. None the less, sock it to em Mehdi !!

"Doctors reportedly suspect Pussy Riot member Pyotr Verzilov was poisoned with a neurotransmitter-blocking medicine
Meduza

A powerful neurotransmitter-blocking medicine is apparently what landed Pyotr Verzilov in critical condition at the toxicology wing of Moscow’s Bakhrushin City Clinical Hospital on September 11. Verzilov’s partner says he started losing his vision, speech, and mobility before he was rushed to the emergency room.

Don't miss this report by manuelgarciajr; I need to mention this morning reading the MSM, one couple with a small child and two cats plus she is pregnant were going to ride Florence out...because they said they could not afford to leave. However, on the boards they had nailed down to protect the windows they inscribed these messages: "Thank God For Trump" and "God Bless America." It cannot get much weirder than that folks.
All of this and not a peep on the local conditions due to the drug war, or the immigration issues. Sorry. Will come back to those in the next blog - but to give you a heads up, here in TIJ we have surpassed 80 executions so far this month, attacks on authorities, burned and headless bodies, etc. The Gendarme has been deployed to our region and prior to their arrival massive quantities of heroin, cocaine, meth & weed have been seized up and down the coast.
There has also been no mention locally of the millions and millions of dollars the USA under Trump plans to send to Mexico (as part of Merida) to get rid of the migrantes in Mexico and before they make it to the line - not a word. Will AMLO go along with this policy? Also, waiting to see the blowback from ICE receiving million of dollars funneled to them from FEMA.
May not return until the weekend.

Update 09/13 10:42 pm:
Well I'm Back. The New York Times article regarding the 20 million the Trump Administration plans to give to Mexico to deport immigrants has moved full circle - from CNN to the Financial Times and around the globe:
US Plans to Pay $20 Million To Help Mexico Deport Migrants By, Cathine E. Shoichet However Proceso reports today that there is no deal - even though this point has been on the table for a long time where initially Pena wanted 800 million dollars. I'll paste this report for you, and while you are there check out the section on the transition of AMLO:
"WASHINGTON (AP) - Due to pressure from the transition team of President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the government of Enrique Peña Nieto rejected 20 million dollars allocated in the Mérida Initiative by the Donald Trump administration for the repatriation of undocumented immigrants. in Mexico. "The Mexican government did not accept the 20 million dollars, they are there at the bottom of the Mérida Initiative, but they were not accepted to carry out repatriations," a government official from Peña Nieto told Apro in response to the dispatch published by this weekly. on its website, noting that Washington's proposal to finance the cost of deportations in Mexico would be signed. A member of the transition team of the president-elect, reported to Apro that, for a few weeks, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón (future secretary of Foreign Affairs), told the chancellery in charge of Luis Videgaray Caso, that he would not accept any money from the government of Trump to defray the expenses of the deportation of undocumented immigrants. "We knew of the negotiations and the intention of the government of President Trump to provide funds for the deportation of people from Mexico to their countries of origin, therefore, the government of Peña Nieto was asked not to accept a single penny" , stressed the informative source of López Obrador's transition team.
Over the refusal of the still Mexican government, the State Department, in charge of the financing and revision of the Mérida Initiative, recently notified the US Federal Congress about the allocation of the 20 million dollars.
The process of informing the Capitol about the destination of funds for the international affairs budget by the Department of State is mandatory, which does not imply, as the Mexican government clarifies, that the 20 million dollars are accepted.
President Trump tried to convince the Peña Nieto government that Mexico would become a sort of immigration filter for Washington since he arrived at the White House and applied the Zero Tolerance policy to undocumented immigration, by approving the separation of children from their parents when arriving as undocumented immigrants to the southern border of the United States and criminalizing those of legal age.
In secret, Luis Videgaray and Alfonso Navarrete Prida, secretary of the Interior, negotiated, like the Trump government, the agreement to convert Mexico into a Third Secure Country (TPS). With the typification of the TPS, Trump intended that all non-Mexican foreign immigrants seeking asylum for any reason or reason in the United States, first, they requested it in Mexico so that they could not even get close to the southern border of the United States.
Luis Videgaray and the Mexican ambassador in Washington, Gerónimo Gutiérrez Fernández publicly denied the negotiation of the TPS, however, Proceso and various US media outlets, including The New York Times , published evidence to the contrary.
After an interview ( Proceso 2180), Ambassador Gutiérrez Fernández accepted that the TPS case was reviewed with the United States government, but assured that the idea of specifying the agreement had already been rejected.
With the financing of 20 million dollars, the Trump administration was looking for the Mexican government to accept a kind of deportation quota for undocumented immigrants.
The New York Times , in its print edition today, publishes a dispatch that gives an account, as does Proceso, about Trump's intention to get the Mexican government to accept the repatriation of undocumented immigrants.
The New York newspaper even announces that the 20 million dollars would cover the costs of Mexico's deportation to their countries of origin of some 17,000 undocumented immigrants.
The migratory funds in the Mérida Initiative focused on the repatriation of migrants from continents such as Africa and Asia.
In Mexico, and due to the infrastructure and training incapacity of the personnel of the National Institute of Immigration (INI), immigrants detained from countries such as Bangladesh, Cameroon or India, are released and people arrive at the northern border to try to enter the United States.
The $ 20 million from the State Department would pay the cost of intercontinental flights of undocumented immigrants in Mexico, which would be convenient for Trump to prevent the flow of migrants in its southern border, another migratory filter not of the TPS puff that he intended to sign with the government of Peña Nieto."
In the case of Central American immigrants detained in Mexico as undocumented, the elderly are deported by land (in buses) and minors by plane.
"The 20 million dollars are there, in the Mérida Initiative, the government of President Peña Nieto has already rejected them for immigration purposes, and it will be up to the next president (López Obrador) to decide whether to take them or not," the official added. outgoing government.
The New York Times, having ignored the refusal of the Mexican government to accept the money from the State Department, in his office on the matter, even, reported the refusal of legislators to the idea of wanting Mexico to do the dirty work of Washington.
"The intention of the Congress to approve this money (in the Merida Initiative) is to support the communities to face the problem of crime, corruption and many other challenges, not to expand the deportations crusade of this administration," he told The New York Times the Democratic representative for the state of New York, Eliot Engel, member of the Committee of International Affairs.
On October 11 and 12 in Washington, the Second Conference on Prosperity and Security in Central America will be held with the participation of the governments of that region, Trump, Peña Nieto and members of the Andrés Manuel López Obrador team."
No disrespect to Sr. Esquivel, but when I saw his name I flashed on this political cartoon from a couple of months back which now needs to be updated to showing wads of transferred funds bulging from the ICE Agent's pockets:
From Meduza: 09/13/18: Weirdly, I could not pull up the link.

A powerful neurotransmitter-blocking medicine is
apparently what landed Pyotr Verzilov in critical condition at the

speech, and mobility before he was rushed to the emergency room.

anticholinergic drugs, which are used to treat a variety of conditions,

told Meduza that they are “1,000-percent” certain that he didn’t willingly ingest any anticholinergic drugs.
Verzilov remains in critical condition, but his life is reportedly
not in danger, and he is slowly recuperating. Relatives say he still
isn’t speaking, and “reacts only with his eyes.”
